Well, folks, grab your tiny violins: Nickelodeon has officially pulled the plug on Erin & Aaron. Yes, you heard right! The musical comedy that made you wonder if you were watching a TV show or an extended TikTok reel has been cancelled. Clearly, Nickelodeon believes they can survive on a diet of cheese puffs and SpongeBob reruns alone.

Featuring Ava Ro, Jensen Gering, Larisa Oleynik (yes, that one! Hello, nostalgic ’90s), David S Jung, and Pyper Braun, this show followed the riveting adventures of your average teenage stepsiblings. Their mission? To navigate the minefield that is their parents’ spiraling love life while mostly just singing about it. If only there were a musical number for family therapy—now that would have garnered ratings!

Sadly, the show’s seasonal harvest yielded under 100,000 viewers—barely enough to fill a small coffee shop during happy hour. But let’s be real: if you expected anything more, you might as well hold your breath waiting for a Desperate Housewives revival in a quiet suburb of Idaho.

The twelve charmingly lengthy episodes debuted in April 2023, which, judging by their reception, might as well have been the Paleolithic era. With viewership healthier than a diet soda campaign, the end was as predictable as an influencer’s avocado toast post.

While specific reasons for the cancellation remain as murky as your aunt’s punch at family reunions, it’s fair to assume that the numbers did little to shake the network’s wallet. After all, the first rule of children’s programming is: if the kids aren’t watching, just throw in the towel and bring back the revival of All That instead. Because you can never go wrong with mid-90s nostalgia wrapped in skits about body odor and prank wars.

So, did you bother to tune in? Did you want another season of this theatrical masterpiece, or were your Netflix algorithms too preoccupied with recommending that documentary on the history of salt? Whatever it is you think—be it rage, indifference, or sublimated dreams of becoming a teen star yourself—it’s worth pondering in one of life’s great “what-ifs.”

For those of you left with questions about what to binge next, we have you covered. Check out our status sheets that document the thrilling rollercoaster of new TV series pickups, renewals, and cancellations. Because nothing screams “entertainment” like tracking the burial of yet another adorable formulaic sitcom!
