Meghan McCain labels Lauren Sánchez and Jeff Bezos’ $50 million wedding as extravagant and unnecessary.

Meghan McCain unleashed her inner critique maestro with a symphony of sarcastic jabs aimed squarely at the “disastrous” $50 million wedding of Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez. Because, let’s face it, what’s a billionaire wedding without a good dose of outrage?

On Tuesday’s episode of her “Citizen McCain” podcast, the former “View” co-host found herself deep in the lavish quagmire of Bezos’ nuptials, dubbing the shindig a “waste of money.” She opened her critique with a classic roast: “That carpet looks like I picked it up from Home Depot on the way home.” Classy, right?

But McCain wasn’t done, oh no! She later decried the event as an “egregious display of gratuitous wealth” at a time when the public is grumbling about billionaires sidestepping tax obligations like they’re dodging a mall cop. With “socialism on the rise,” the former “Outnumbered” star questioned the logic of a wedding in Venice—a city that, apparently, isn’t on any sort of relationship-based Netflix episode list for Jeff and Lauren.

McCain slammed Bezos’s wedding vision, suggesting he was all, “Hey, why not have the most ridiculous, gaudy, over-the-top, celebrity-filled wedding in a city that knows me about as well as my high school classmates?” That’s how you really pummel the essence of a good evening’s celebration, right? Talk about destination wedding goals—if the destination is a high-octane showcase of fiscal irresponsibility.

Among her myriad critiques, McCain expressed bewilderment over the star-studded guest list, drawing parallels to the royal wedding of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. Her line of questioning was nothing short of delightful: “Why was George Clooney even there? Did they send an invite to the entire Hollywood Hills just to flex?” Forget about love; this marriage appeared to be more about securing a “Who’s Who” of empty socializing.

In an Instagram clip, she quipped, “What else can we expect from a tacky, tone-deaf billionaire, I guess?” Because who wouldn’t want to wallow in schadenfreude while scrolling through pictures of a $50 million wedding? It’s practically a Gatsby tribute at this point—minus the tragic charm and plus one overly-decorated carpet.

But here’s the kicker: McCain claims she’s not anti-rich or anything. “I just don’t understand the optics,” she insisted. Really? You’re puzzled by the optics of a celebrity wedding costing more than some countries’ GDP? What a world! It’s like being invited to a potluck but realizing you’re the only one bringing a salad and everyone else shows up with filet mignon and caviar.

Of course, McCain isn’t new to the scene when it comes to criticizing Bezos. She previously tossed shade during his brief jaunt to space, ruminating on the irony that Amazon employees might as well be undergoing maritime training in a sea of water bottles because they can’t even take bathroom breaks. One minute of ego-stroking in space or redoing those poor employees’ break rooms? Tough choice, Jeff!

Even Sánchez faced a storm of gentle criticism for her recent all-female spaceflight, which Emily Ratajkowski deemed “beyond parody.” Seriously, is this the new societal standard? Because if so, sign us up for the next ticket to absurdity.

This wedding may have come and gone like a summer breeze—although admittedly, a very overpriced one. However, McCain’s sharp commentary will linger like that uninvited uncle at a family gathering, ensuring that we don’t look away anytime soon. When it comes to billionaire festivities, the real show isn’t in their lavish celebrations, but rather in the gossip and critique swirling around them, which is arguably free and infinitely more entertaining.
