LOS ANGELES, December 16, 2019 (Newswire.com) – Hold onto your remote controls, folks! Season 10 of Shameless staggered onto our screens on November 10, bringing back the gang we love—along with a few fresh faces just to remind us that the Gallagher family tree has more branches than a local arboretum. One of these newcomers is the talented Vanessa Lua, stepping into the role of Aunt Telma, who, according to the script, is sure to be the moral compass. Just kidding, this is Shameless!

Aunt Telma’s primary function? To awkwardly observe her niece’s budding entrepreneurial ventures—think side hustles, but with significantly more chaos. And let’s not forget her delightful dealings with Carl (Ethan Cutkosky), whose idea of romance includes more drama than a soap opera. Plus, Aunt Telma gets to tango with none other than Frank Gallagher (William H. Macy). Frank: the human embodiment of impulse control issues, here to ensure Aunt Telma gets a splash of that classic Gallagher madness.

“The main cast was extraordinarily accommodating,” Vanessa remarked, as though she had just escaped from a group hug. “From the moment I stepped onto set, I already felt like part of this dysfunctional family. When William H. Macy directed ‘Sparky’ (Episode 05, Season 10), it was as if he was handing me the keys to the nuclear reactor with a smile.” Who knew directing could come with an added dose of existential dread?

Adventures aside, “Shameless” slumps onto your screen for your weekly dose of guilt-watching every Sunday at 9 p.m. ET/8 p.m. CT on Showtime. And because they know you can’t get enough, each episode gets a second chance at life with a repeat at 11 p.m. Because who doesn’t want to revisit chaos? Episodes will also be available to stream post-broadcast because, you know, you might not catch the absurdity live amidst all your scrolling and snack grabbing.

A bit about Vanessa Lua: a bilingual wonder, she’s well-acquainted with the fine art of juggling—much like her character’s imminent family drama. Known for her starring role in the critically acclaimed comedy “Anchor Baby,” Vanessa has dabbled with Michael Bay in “The Last Ship” and “Stuck in a Fairy Tale.” On top of her acting prowess, she’s donned the producer hat for various projects. You know she’s a catch when you realize she can not only act but also remind you that your dreams of making it big could be just a bad audition away.

Vanessa is also the genius behind the YouTube channel “What the hell did she say?”—where she interviews celebrities while flashy self-promotion and a pink iPhone reign supreme. Think red carpets, but with a blend of glamour and the kind of awkwardness that makes you say, “I need to see this.” Her training in improvised comedy at places like the Dallas Comedy House and The Groundlings makes her ready for anything, including your spontaneous existential crises.
