Mastiii 4: The Comedy Franchise That Just Won’t Quit

    New Delhi:

In a true testament to humanity’s love for festive mediocrity, *Mastiii 4* gallantly strutted onto cinema screens on November 21, 2025. The latest chapter of this comedy saga—because why not?—features the familiar faces of Riteish Deshmukh, Vivek Oberoi, and Aftab Shivdasani, back to regale us with their comedic ‘genius’, which we all know is basically code for awkward situations and punchlines that should’ve been left on the cutting room floor.

The illustrious trailer dropped on November 4, 2025, and apparently it was met with wild enthusiasm. With over 26 million views, audiences seemed eager to relive the wholesome experience of wondering how many cringeworthy encounters could fit into a feature-length film. Ah, excitement!

Produced by a small army of names you might know (or blissfully forget), including Jhunjhunwala, Ahluwalia, Kumar, and team, *Mastiii 4* is a collective effort under the banners of Zee Studios, Waveband Production, and the world’s unofficial champions of sequels, Balaji Telefilms. Because making original content is just too mainstream.

The Humble Beginnings: Masti (2004) Budget vs. Box Office

Ah, the original *Masti* from 2004: a humble production with a budget of just Rs 10 crore. This cinematic classic grossed a spectacular Rs 34.14 crore worldwide, because making people laugh at the expense of their dignity is always profitable. The film’s Indian collection stood at Rs 20.26 crore, with an impressive Rs 6.78 crore from overseas markets, as if someone in another country thought, “Yes, this is the kind of foreign film I’d like to watch!”

Grand Masti: The Sequel That Should Have Stayed Dormant (2013)

In 2013, *Grand Masti* graced screens, and oh boy, did it resonate—despite that questionable IMDb rating of 4.5. With a budget of Rs 35 crore, it raked in a cool Rs 145 crore worldwide. Clearly, the tagline might as well have been, “Come for the nostalgia, stay for the bafflement.” Domestically, it collected Rs 102.2 crore. Overseas? A staggering Rs 14.38 crore, probably from folks curious about why anyone would willingly sit through such shenanigans.

The Disastrous Dive of Great Grand Masti (2016)

Enter *Great Grand Masti* in 2016, a film that traded laughter for groans faster than a bank offering a low-interest loan. With a budget of Rs 38 crore, it earned a meager Rs 20.25 crore worldwide, as disappointed viewers collectively wondered if they had time-traveled to a dimension where this was considered entertainment. The film’s Indian tally? A paltry Rs 13.72 crore. The international numbers stand at Rs 1.73 crore, which clearly says “Let’s not tell our friends about this one.”

The *Mastiii* franchise continues to be an enigma wrapped in laughter—or at least a type of laughter. It seems the audience feels the need to keep coming back for more, hoping desperately that the next installment will magically improve. Or maybe they’re just curious about how far comedy can drop before it hits a new bottom!

So there you have it! In a world full of uncertainty, one thing remains constant: the *Mastiii* series will likely keep coming back, like that friend who insists that last night’s karaoke was a good idea. Will *Mastiii 4* break the mold? Or will it sit comfortably amongst the ranks of glorious mediocrity? Only time—and ticket sales—will tell.
