Nick Offerman criticizes budget cuts proposed by Trump.

Nick Offerman recently decided to channel his inner environmental crusader while lamenting over budget cuts to America’s beloved national parks. Because who doesn’t appreciate a little outdoor drama with their coffee?

“Do you have a moment to talk about the environment?” he quipped on Tuesday’s episode of The Daily Show, sounding a bit like a well-meaning door-to-door salesman, but thankfully without the awkward small talk about roof repairs.

In a monologue that felt a tad like a Ron Swanson manifesto but was much more Offerman-esque, he pathos-ed away for national parks—his one true love that isn’t carved from wood or fermented.

“It fills me with great sorrow to report these pastoral gifts to America are under attack,” Offerman declared, smoothly transitioning to his concern over a staffing crisis that’s gripping our national parks, thanks to budget cuts approved by former DOGE head and Twitter overlord Elon Musk. Because who needs clean parks when you have a social media platform to run?

A recent news segment Offerman highlighted tipped us off to a thrilling fact: staffing in national parks has plummeted by 24 percent since Trump took office. This scarcity has led to long queues, overflowing trash cans, and—poetically—park scientists being drafted to do their best janitorial impressions.

“That’s right, folks! America’s parks are so underfunded, scientists are cleaning the toilets,” Offerman added. “It’s like Good Will Hunting, but in reverse; instead of solving math problems, they’re battling the aftermath of our picnic escapades!”

In a further twist of irony, Offerman shared reports of park rangers utilizing risqué social media clips to woo visitors—a strategy that alarmed and intrigued him equally. “Yikes! Rangers are stripping,” he exclaimed. “At this rate, we might as well prepare for the Grand Canyon to have its debut on OnlyFans, as it showcases hole and rim-to-rim action.” Talk about a subscription plan that would rock your world!

Aside from the madness of the Trump administration, which cut $267 million from the National Parks budget, the president’s stellar idea of “One Big Beautiful Bill” sure put the “fun” in dysfunctional budgeting.

“How will he make up the money?” Offerman mused. “Shaking down foreigners, of course.” Earlier this month, Trump unveiled his groundbreaking plan to hike entry fees for international visitors, aiming to snatch back $90 million. Because nothing screams patriotism quite like making foreign tourists pay more to see the beautiful, trash-strewn vistas of America.

“Let me get this straight, Mr. President: You cut $267 million to recover $90 million?” Offerman quipped. “Now, I’m no mathematician, but that sounds suspiciously like ‘s—-ing the bed.’ But then again, I didn’t attend Wharton Business College—maybe there’s a major in that!”

In a heartfelt plea, the actor emphasized the need for America to defend its national parks, analogizing, “America without its national parks is like McDonald’s without hamburgers—you could still go there, but what’s the point? At that stage, it’s just a bathroom experience!”

Catch more of Offerman’s entertaining take on national park dilemmas in the video above. Seasons may change, but at least one thing remains consistent: America’s parks deserve more than being the world’s largest open-air restrooms!
