In the grand tradition of thrillers and slapstick comedies, MGM has graciously given us the second official trailer for summer’s most anticipated comedy, The Hustle. Yes, folks, get ready for a wild ride as Rebel Wilson and Anne Hathaway, two con artists of significantly different class levels, take center stage. Spoiler alert: They are not nice women. At least, they admit it!
The film is a gender-swapped remake of the beloved 1988 classic, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. The screenplay dives into the world of shady scams and underhanded tricks as these two down-and-out hustlers, one a low-rent hustler and the other high-society, join forces to con the dirty rotten men who dared wrong them. Talk about a plot twist that would make even a seasoned soap opera writer blush!
In our trailer viewing experience, we find ourselves in a delightful battle of wits as they engage in a painstakingly devious “loser leaves town” contest. That’s right, forget about just winning the lottery; this is where you out-scam your fellow con artist. Who knew crime could be so exceedingly amusing?
The film also boasts a supporting cast that includes Tim Blake Nelson, Alex Sharp, Ingrid Oliver, and a few others who likely had a great time delivering their half-hearted attempts at normalcy in the face of utter absurdity. If you think you’re ready, trust me—you’re not. This trailer teases just enough comic genius to keep you intrigued but not enough to make you hopeful.
So, sit back and enjoy the second official trailer for Chris Addison’s The Hustle, which you can find directly from MGM’s YouTube channel. Because why read the book when you can just watch a trailer that’s almost two minutes long?
For fans of pure comedy gold, Anne Hathaway and Rebel Wilson bring a dazzling display of comedic mischief as they unite to deceive their oppressors, albeit in a rather charming and cheeky manner. You’d think they’d just got back from a team-building workshop on how to lie with style! Directed by Chris Addison, this film marks his feature directorial debut after honing his skills in the slightly less-glamorous world of TV comedies. Trust us, this is his big break—who could resist?
Get excited, folks! The Hustle sweeps into theaters on May 10th, riding on the heels of its own shameless self-promotion and scamming our summer movie schedules like a pro. Who’s buying tickets? Or better yet, who’s planning a hustle of their own?
