A Life Full of Memories
Meredith Lynn Arnold, a cherished resident of Mayville, passed away unexpectedly at age 75 on January 27, 2026. She was undergoing treatment for small cell lung cancer at her home.
Early Life and Education
Born in West Allis to Lester and Audrey (Remmel) Arnold, Meredith welcomed her older brother Wayne into the family. While growing up, they relocated several times within Michigan before settling in West Bend, Wisconsin. Meredith graduated from high school in 1968 and furthered her education at the University of Wisconsin-Washington County.
Professional Journey
Meredith dedicated her career to finance, working at several automotive dealerships in the area. Her exceptional skills made a lasting impression, and upon retirement, the dealership owner earnestly requested her to stay.
A Legacy of Local Friendship
Throughout her life, Meredith cultivated deep and lasting friendships with high school classmates, co-workers, and neighbors. A steadfast resident for 30 years, she took pride in her home in Mayville, which she skillfully remodeled. Her contentment was rooted in the tight-knit community she built around her loyal friends.
Love for Animals and Craftsmanship
A true animal lover, Meredith provided a home for many rescue dogs over the years. Known for her humor and quick wit, she was a vibrant and independent woman. Her business acumen and self-taught craftsmanship made her a unique treasure to all who had the privilege of knowing her, culminating in significant financial bequests to her brother that reflected a lifetime of frugality.
Survived By and Commemoration
Meredith is survived by her beloved brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Sandy Arnold of Apollo Beach, FL, along with her niece Catherine Buckland, her husband Brian, grand-nieces in Denver, and nephew David Arnold, his wife Michelle, and grand-nephews in Oakland, CA. She is also remembered fondly by numerous cousins and her special aunt Noreen.
Memorial Services and Support
Having been predeceased by her parents and many aunts and uncles, her high school friends have already held a celebratory party in her memory. Another gathering is planned for what would have been her 76th birthday. Meredith’s ashes will be interred beside her parents at Washington County Memorial Park during the summer, accompanied by a remembrance gathering.
Contribution to the Community
In honor of Meredith’s dedication to helping others, memorial contributions can be made to a local food pantry of your choice, a cause she passionately supported throughout her life.
If one’s worth is determined by the friends they cherish, then Meredith was extraordinarily wealthy. Her spirit and kindness will be deeply missed.
