Awarding 60 Trade Union Solidarity Houses in 2026
During Workers’ Month in 2026, the City Labor Federation (LĐLĐ) made a significant impact by awarding 16 Trade Union Warm Houses to union members facing challenging housing conditions. This initiative is part of a broader plan to grant a total of 60 Trade Union Warm Houses throughout the year.
Support for Hardworking Union Members
Among the beneficiaries is Ms. Nguyen Thi Trach, an employee of Da Nang Urban Environment Joint Stock Company. Ms. Trach expressed her gratitude for the support, stating that she and her husband have worked tirelessly to provide for their two children. With a combined monthly income of only 7-8 million VND, they often struggle to meet basic living expenses and fund their children’s education. The idea of saving enough to repair their home felt like an impossible dream.
Desperate Living Conditions
The family’s modest home in Tho Quang ward was purchased in 2017. Over the years, it has aged and deteriorated severely, with peeling walls, leaks, and a damaged corrugated iron roof that fails to protect them from seasonal rains and heat.
Plans for a Safer Home
Filled with emotion, Ms. Trach shared, “Thanks to the generous support from the company’s Trade Union and the Labor Federation, my husband and I are overjoyed. With this funding, I plan to replace the old roof with PVC panels, which will protect us from both rain and sun. Our lives will be much safer during the upcoming rainy season.”
Shared Joy Among Union Members
Ms. Vo Thi Chin, a member of the trade union at Da Nang General Printing Company, also expressed her heartfelt excitement about the initiative. Her house in Hai Chau ward has been in dire condition for over 20 years, often forcing her to seek shelter during storms.
Gratitude for New Opportunities
Holding the “Trade Union Shelter” support sign, tears of joy filled Ms. Chin’s eyes as she reflected, “My house is in ruins, and for years I didn’t know where I would find the funds to rebuild. Now that the Labor Federation has stepped in to support my new house, I feel immense gratitude. This assistance motivates me to build a safer and more secure environment for my family.”
Comprehensive Support Activities
In addition to housing assistance, the City Labor Federation has also guided trade unions at all levels to prioritize key initiatives during Workers’ Month. These activities include the “May Dialogue” program, forums for trade union members to share opinions, and the “Thank You to Workers” program. Furthermore, this month serves as a peak period to promote innovation, improve labor productivity, and foster grassroots union development.
Further Assistance for Workers in Need
To further support workers facing difficulties, the City Labor Federation will be distributing 1,000 gifts throughout Workers’ Month 2026. This initiative aims to uplift those in challenging situations and reinforce the solidarity among the working class.
