‘Wheel of Fortune’ Contestant Becomes an Internet Sensation After Funny Misstep

A contestant from “Wheel of Fortune,” presumably attempting to earn the coveted prize of public embarrassment, has gone viral thanks to his legendary “missolve.”

During the charming chaos of the Nov. 11 episode, contestant Will, who may have mixed up his game show with a breakfast menu, boldly proclaimed, “Treat yourself a round of sausage” instead of the actual phrase “Give yourself a round of applause.” Because who needs applause when you can have breakfast meats?

Naturally, Will’s fabulous faux pas didn’t go unnoticed, as fellow contestant Kitina quickly swooped in to deliver the actual answer, adding to the drama that only a game show could provide.

“Will, I kind of like yours better,” said host Ryan Seacrest, attempting to spin this culinary blunder into a compliment. “That sounds better than just clapping right now.” A bold statement, considering the importance of clapping in social interactions, especially during award shows and awkward moments.

Over on Instagram, Miss Maggie Sajak, the show’s social correspondent, approached Will as if he were a contestant on a different show entirely—“Survivor: Game Show Edition.” “Alright Will, we had a little missolve in the first game… that’s okay. How are you feeling?” she inquired, as if expecting a Nobel-worthy philosophical reflection.

Will responded with the wisdom of someone who has just survived an awkward encounter with a food critic: “I tell you, when the lights are on, and you know, the stars and Ryan Seacrest, Vanna White… I just went blank.” Sounds like a classic case of too much celebrity pressure and not enough breakfast.

And in a twist that made us roll our eyes and chuckle at the same time, Will cheekily added, “But, if your dad, in retirement, is watching this show, maybe cracks a beer and gets a laugh, it was worth it.” Ah, the elusive dream of making Pat Sajak’s dad chuckle—truly the measurement of success!

The always-gracious Maggie ensured a follow-up promise from her father’s former co-host: “I will make sure that we tune in that night, okay? That’s a promise.”

Will replied, “Awesome. And I’m sure I’m gonna have sausages in my locker and police car when I get back, so we’ll try and have some fun with it.” Because nothing screams fun like questionable snacks and law enforcement.

As if to further embrace the absurdity of it all, Sajak quipped about Will’s “benefits” from this unique moment of fame. It wasn’t long before Ryan showed up with a cue card for Will’s family, elevating the level of awkwardness to an award-winning height.

In the end, “Playing Wheel of Fortune on stage is a whole different ball game than playing at home, but Will was a great sport about his missolve!” the show remarked on social media. Because in the world of game shows, as in life, if you’re not getting a good laugh, are you really winning at all?
