Ah, the cinematic masterpiece that is ‘Housefull 5,’ scheduled to hit theaters on June 6. What a delightful chaos it promises to be, with an ensemble cast large enough to form its own political party. Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan, and Riteish Deshmukh, among others, are set to grace the screen, all while hosting a comedy convention aboard a cruise ship. Yes, you heard that right—because what screams “laughs” more than a floating vessel of questionable stability?

Now, let’s talk turkey—or in this case, rupees. This film has proudly claimed the title of India’s most expensive comedy, boasting a budget of a jaw-dropping Rs 225 crore. It’s so expensive that it could probably fund several indie films, a few student loans, and still have cash left over for overpriced popcorn.

According to a source (who definitely wasn’t on the payroll of the production team), the extravagant budget is partially due to the logistical nightmare of coordinating 19 acclaimed actors on real locations. You have to wonder if hiring an entire cruise ship was deemed a more practical choice than shooting in a single location. Who knows what brilliant minds came up with that plan? Perhaps they thought the luxury of a cruise would distract from the comedic train wreck ahead.

Producer Sajid Nadiadwala poured his heart, soul, and evidently a small fortune into making what he calls a “lavish Killer Comedy.” You almost have to admire the optimism. After all, combining comedy with the thrilling plot twist of a murder mystery is as ambitious as serving caviar at a college dorm party.

Oh, but wait, there’s more! Rumor has it that ‘Housefull 5’ will feature two climaxes played differently in theaters across the nation. It’s like a surprise twist ending, except you get the chance to be disappointed twice! With such a bold move, you can practically hear the audiences collectively sighing, “What the heck?”

When you compare ‘Housefull 5’ to its predecessors, you might notice that it’s shaping up to be the second most expensive film in Nadiadwala’s career. To add to your amusement, the other titans of spending—like ‘Sooryavanshi’ and ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’—are still vying for the title of cinematic extravagance. It’s like a reality show for movie budgets, where only the dramatic survive.

As far as ticket sales go, advance bookings have already raked in Rs 3.88 crores. Yes, you read that correctly: mere crores. But hey, it all hinges on positive word of mouth and spot bookings. So, if you’re considering crashing this carnival of confusion, best share your verdict with vigor. Who knows, it might just help them recoup that staggering investment!
