Joe Avati: Global Comedian Engaging in Various Real Estate Transactions Across Melbourne

Joe Avati is completing works on multiple homes around Melbourne.

International comedy star Joe Avati is diving headfirst into a home renovation side gig. Because who needs a relaxing hobby when you can swing sledgehammers and juggle contractors?

The award-winning comic and his wife Natalie are just weeks away from completing two townhouses in Preston, after bravely purchasing the site during that joyful little adventure called the Covid pandemic.

He’s also launched a brand-new Instagram handle for the renovation of his Hawthorn East abode, which he charmingly dubbed Elimatta—an Indigenous word for “my home.” Because “Joe’s Pad” just didn’t have the same ring to it.

Real estate enthusiasts can rejoice—he’s also planning to erect an old-school delicatessen in his extension. Yes, you heard it right: meat curing right next to your living room. Finally, a home where salami and laughter coexist!

“People are glued to this renovation saga,” said Avati, “and it’ll offer a glimpse of how to pamper a heritage home while sneakily adding a modern twist. Think of it as giving your grandma’s house a facelift with a dash of Botox.”

After a whirlwind comedy tour in Europe that magically stretched into a month-long inspiration retreat (Oh, the sacrifices for creativity!), Avati’s home is set to become the envy of every Insta-fan. He plans to reveal renders, videos, and time-lapses of the chaos that is home renovation on Instagram. Spoiler alert: expect plenty of captioned “before” and “after” photos that will leave you questioning your own living arrangements.

As for the townhouses, Avati is aiming to sell them soon, aiming to beat the “my cousin lives in a bigger shoebox” trend by including ensuites for each bedroom, rear lane access, and a double garage that could double as a winter retreat from family gatherings.

Yes, the past few years may have been a comedy of errors, but the silver lining? Avati’s renovation plans are revitalizing the so-called “bridesmaid suburb” of Preston. It has now gentrified enough to lure in those looking for an Instagram-friendly sanctuary. Because nothing says “I’ve arrived” like espresso machines in every corner and hand-crafted artisanal bread.

Keep your eyes peeled, folks! Joe Avati has plenty going on and plans for stand-up in Wodonga, Warrnambool, and Geelong this May—because why not juggle comedy and construction like a pro?
