Shenanigans reveals plans for a forthcoming change in ownership

In a stunning twist that no one saw coming — because who could predict bar ownership changes in this economy? — Shenanigans Sports Bar & Grill has announced it’s gearing up for a transfer of power on January 2nd.

Yes, you heard it right! The establishment at 1903 S. Ellis Road will soon be under new management — a scenario that surely has some regulars crying into their nachos. But don’t worry, folks; the name, employees, and, for now, those awkward karaoke nights remain intact. Relish in that comfort while contemplating the uncertainty of the universe.

A comforting message from their social media states that events already scheduled will proceed as planned. Because what’s more reassuring than knowing your cousin’s wedding reception will go off without a hitch, despite the bar having a new captain at the helm? Shenanigans assures us they’re keeping the party rolling, like a drunken bowling ball careening down a lane.

“Thank you to our loyal community for supporting Shenanigans over the last 40 years!” they proclaimed, undoubtedly holding back tears that could have otherwise watered the neighboring plants. “We look forward to being the go-to spot for awkward family reunions and friendly catch-ups over drinks and food!” Who knew heartfelt sentiment could be so refreshing, right?

Shenanigans, the brainchild of Don and Jean Rose, first graced The Empire Mall back in the wild days of 1986. It has cruised through trends, fashions, and, one would assume, the trendy hairstyles of patrons — all while weeding out the competition like a concerned mom at a rowdy sleepover.

At the time of its inception, the fine establishment had only 10 peers on 41st Street — an impressively exclusive club by anybody’s standards. After 29 years of serving up questionable life choices off its cozy bar menu, it migrated to its current location on the west side, perhaps in search of greener (or at least more beer-covered) pastures, and has been a beacon of deliciousness amidst the increasing development along Ellis Road.

So, as the clock ticks down to this significant changeover in the bar’s illustrious history, don’t forget to stop by for a drink or two — preferably in celebration of the fact that no matter who owns it, the beer will keep flowing, and the wings will continue to inspire both joy and regret.
