Jersey DJ strives for an incredible world record at the London Marathon

Gus Fraser’s Remarkably Ridiculous Marathon Quest

Next month, Gus Fraser is setting the stage—or shall we say, the marathon route—for an audacious attempt at the Guinness World Record for the fastest marathon while mixing music. Yes, you heard that right; he’s aiming for the TCS London Marathon on April 21, and quite frankly, he calls it “ridiculous.” But why stick with the conventional when you can add DJ decks to your running shoes?

His goal? A staggering £100,000 for Cancer Research UK. One might think raising such a sum would require a few bake sales or charity runs, but not for Gus. After losing his father to pancreatic cancer a decade ago, he’s been on a fundraising spree for ten years—and still hasn’t run out of energy. Apparently, ordinary marathons weren’t challenging enough; they lacked the DJ flair he brings to the starting line.

In a world where most people sit contemplatively to ponder their lives, Fraser reveals, “After watching loved ones battle cancer, I felt the need to do something about it.” Or maybe he just couldn’t find a couch big enough for his ambitions. Either way, he’s not just running; he’s also spinning tracks to raise funds for clinical trials in Southampton—because what better way to inspire donations than by having a sweaty DJ morph into a marathon runner?

Now, hold your applause and potential donations for a moment. In true modern-day tale fashion, Fraser isn’t just a man on a mission. He’s also the tech entrepreneur behind the data privacy app “Revoke.” Apparently, personal data privacy and marathon DJing go hand in hand—who knew? When asked why this year’s stunt had to be so audacious, he confidently declared, “A regular marathon wouldn’t be enough.” That’s right, the mere act of running 26.2 miles wasn’t challenging enough without synchronizing sound waves.

A Cancer Battle Story—With a Side of DJ Fest

In a striking plot twist, Fraser revealed that cancer has struck home once again—this time affecting one of his son’s young friends, who’s been valiantly battling Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma for over a year. Talk about a heavy backstory. But it does give Gwyneth Paltrow a run for her money in the “celebrity struggles” category.

With yet another young friend narrowly escaping a grueling 11-hour surgery, his heartwarming narratives could lend themselves to a new trend in inspirational playlists: “Sad Tunes for Survival.” He passionately shared, “Every penny raised helps groundbreaking research and treatments, offering real hope to patients.” And by “real hope,” he means the chance of being treated while also jamming out to Gus’s killer beats.

I’m aiming to raise £100,000 for @cr_uk by setting the @GWR World Record for Fastest Marathon whilst DJing at the @LondonMarathon in April 🎧🏃‍♂️ This is my setup – thank you @numark @minirigs 🎶

As he gears up for the marathon, his logistical preparations resemble those of a musical macgyver: how to carry the decks, how to power them, and how to capture his set on video as required by Guinness World Records. Really, the only thing he might have neglected to plan for is whether the marathon route can handle his auditory prowess.

In addition to running and mixing beats, Mr. Fraser also struts his stuff as a strategic AI consultant for Elixirr. Fancy that! Balancing tech entrepreneurship with his DJ dreams, it seems like multitasking is a superpower he has honed over the years. He’s likely the type who can solve algorithmic problems while balancing a smoothie on his head.
