Housefull 5’s Final Global Box Office Earnings: Becomes Akshay Kumar’s Second Highest Grosser Since the Pandemic

Box Office Finances: Housefull 5’s Comedic Misadventures

Mumbai, July 16 – In a cinematic landscape filled with high hopes and even higher budgets, Bollywood’s own Akshay Kumar-led comedy thriller, *Housefull 5*, has officially wrapped up its box office performance grossing a staggering sum below the 300 crores mark. Yes, you heard it—second only to the crown jewel of comedic failures this year. It’s like being the second-best at losing a spelling bee—congratulations?

    Not Quite the Showstopper

Directed by Tarun Mansukhani, *Housefull 5* premiered on June 6, amidst the kind of hype usually reserved for national holidays. It was anticipated to be one of Bollywood’s monumental triumphs, but alas, mixed reviews and the audience’s “meh” factor swiftly diminished its box office aspirations. This wasn’t a drama; it was a tragicomedy.

A Budgetary Premise Fit for Comedy

Reportedly crafted with a budget that nudges around 250 crores, *Housefull 5* has now claimed the title of the most financially-backed Indian comedy endeavor. Despite its almost-300 crore gross, the film concludes its journey marked as merely “average,” likely because of that pesky little thing called a budget. Why shoot for the stars when you can land softly on a mediocre cloud?

Domestic Collection: Climbing the Ranks of “Why Bother?”

Sajid Nadiadwala’s brainchild managed an estimated 183.50 crores in net collection within India (218.50 crores gross), ranking as the second-biggest box office success for Bollywood this year. Overall, *Housefull 5* has achieved the coveted position of the 45th biggest Bollywood film ever. For our hero Kumar, this marks his sixth biggest domestic grosser, or as I like to call it, a large serving of “better luck next time.”

Overseas Collection: A Global Attempt at Success

Overseas, the film reaped around 70 crores gross—a figure that can only be termed impressive if you’re comparing it to selling your old comic books. For Akshay Kumar, this ranks as his fourth-largest overseas success, trailing behind the titans *2.0,* *Good Newwz,* and *Toilet Ek Prem Katha.* Clearly, we love a bathroom humor tale more than slapstick comedy—who knew?

    Worldwide Collection: Truly International Disappointment

In the grand theater of life—also known as the worldwide box office—*Housefull 5* racked up an estimated 289 crores, solidifying its position as the second-largest Bollywood grosser of the year, just behind *Chhaava.* It’s Akshay’s biggest hit since *Sooryavanshi* (293 crores), and his second-largest since the worldwide pandemic declared itself, proving once and for all that potentially avoidable sequels are great for box office numbers but not so much for artistic integrity.

    A Footnote in Cinema History

On the ticket front, approximately ten million or 1 crore tickets have been sold in India. Yes, that means more people watched this comedy than your average Netflix original series—anybody care to explain that? This makes it the second most-watched Bollywood entry this year, immediately after *Chhaava,* but let’s face it, *Housefull 5* wraps up its run with an “Average” verdict. Bravo, indeed.

Lessons Learned: The Comedic Cycle Continues

So, what have we gleaned from the box office antics of *Housefull 5*? Perhaps that the comedy genre is best enjoyed outside the theaters? Or that we should maybe stop giving ridiculous budgets to films that would have been better off as a stage play? Stay tuned, as the melodrama continues—because why stop now when there’s always room for another sequel?
