Secret Meeting of KTR and Lokesh to Plan: Telangana CM Revanth

The Phone-Tapping Controversy: CM Revanth’s Stand

In a recent statement, Chief Minister Revanth addressed the ongoing phone-tapping case and clarified his government’s position, asserting that they do not engage in illegal surveillance like the BRS party, which has been criticized for its “habitual court stays.” He emphasized, “This is not like the BRS era. We are not tapping phones.”

Investigation Under the Telangana High Court

Revanth highlighted that the investigation into the phone-tapping case is being conducted under the supervision of the Telangana High Court. He dismissed suggestions for a CBI probe, arguing that such a move was unnecessary. “Show me where the state investigation has failed,” he challenged critics, expressing confidence in the ongoing efforts.

Delay in Returns and Ongoing Probes

The CM pointed out that the BJP had delayed the return of former SIB chief T Prabhakar Rao by an excessive 18 months. He criticized Union Minister G Kishan Reddy for the lack of progress in various cases currently under investigation by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). “The ED is already probing several cases. Why the silence on their findings?” he questioned.

    Departmental Inquiries: A Slow Process

Addressing the pace of departmental inquiries, Revanth remarked, “These inquiries don’t get completed overnight. Even in movies, the villain is arrested only in the climax.” This comment underscored his belief that thorough investigations take time and should not be rushed.

Local Body Elections and Reservation Commitments

On matters of governance, Chief Minister Revanth announced that local body elections are set to be completed by September 30. He reaffirmed the Congress government’s dedication to maintaining a 42% reservation for Backward Classes (BCs), contrasting it with KCR’s reduction of reservations from 34% to 23% through amendments to the Panchayat Raj Act in 2018.

    Restoring Justice for Muslim Reservations

Revanth also discussed the issue of Muslim reservations, stating, “Muslim reservations have existed since Independence.” He called out the BJP-ruled states for not only maintaining but also implementing reservations, urging Kishan Reddy to address those concerns before criticizing the Telangana government.

    Tummidihetti Project and Water-Shares

In response to criticism of his engagement in the Centre’s water-sharing discussions, Revanth defended his actions, declaring that he would soon meet Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to discuss the Tummidihetti project. “Should I hide in a farmhouse like KCR or actively work for Telangana’s interests?” he questioned, further emphasizing the importance of participation in such discussions for the welfare of the state.
