Early Life and Education
Born on October 31, 1933, in De Soto, Missouri, Mary Lou was the daughter of Frances Ann (Brady) and Fredrick Charles Wall Sr. She graduated from De Soto High School in 1951, where her love for journalism began to blossom. Class reunions were a cherished tradition for her, allowing her to reconnect with old friends and celebrate their shared experiences.
Career and Personal Life
Mary Lou was a devoted homemaker for many years, but she later took on roles at K-Mart in both Manchester and St. Charles. Known for her frugal living and competitive spirit, she enjoyed playing cards and hosting gatherings during holidays and birthdays, where family and friends would come together to create lasting memories.
Family Legacy
Mary Lou is survived by her two sons, James F. (Jan) Holt III and Alan B. (Stephanie) Holt, as well as a son-in-law, Daniel Schwartz. Her legacy continues through her six grandchildren: David (Meghann) Schwartz, Lauren (Sean) Wilhite, Gregory (Tracey) Schwartz, Aidan Holt, Judson Holt, and Brandy Kelcher. Additionally, she had four great-grandchildren: Joseph, Miles, Benjamin, and Everett, and four nieces and nephews: Melissa Wall, Linda Stephens, Emily (Mike) Francis, and William (Michelle) Coxwell.
Preceding Her in Death
Mary Lou was preceded in death by her husband, James F. Holt Jr., and her daughter, Anita Marie (Holt) Schwartz. She also grieved the loss of her brother, Fredrick C. (Patricia) Wall Jr., and her two sisters, Dorothy Wall (William) Coxwell and Jane (Steve) Stephens. Further, she was preceded in death by two nephews, Fredrick C. Wall III and Marty Stephens, along with her great-grandson, Caleb L. Schwartz.
Memorial Arrangements
In honoring her wishes, services for Mary Lou will be private. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to commendable organizations such as the Susan G. Komen Foundation, the Alzheimer’s Association, or the American Thyroid Association.
