Comedy Comes Full Circle: Tom Galati’s Nostalgic Gig

LEVITTOWN, NY — Tom Galati, a pride of Hicksville, was not just another kid in class. Oh no, he was the pint-sized stand-up comic of Woodland Elementary, hitting the stage before most kids could even pronounce “punchline.” For him, grasping a microphone at talent shows was as common as grabbing a juice box during recess.

Comedy as a Side Hustle: Because Why Not?

Fast forward several decades, and our comedy-loving hero is back in the game—this time at Governor’s Comedy Club on November 14, for a fundraiser that’s sure to leave the audience laughing—and possibly clutching their wallets tightly. It’s more than just a performance; it’s an event where Galati can show both his former classmates and his sixth-grade teacher that he’s still the class clown, only now he gets paid for it.

From Elementary to Elegance: A Stand-Up Journey

At the ripe age of 48, Galati’s been weaving humor into the fabric of his life since he was cracking jokes in third grade. “I watched stand-up with my parents,” he reflects, “and when the Scholastic Book Fair rolled around, I was that bizarre kid buying joke books, not knowing that someday, I’d be the punchline at a high school reunion.”

Talent Show 2.0: Will Tom Galati Save the Day?

Woodland Elementary is considering resurrecting their talent show next spring, and they’re keen on getting Galati involved. “I don’t know if I’m supposed to perform for the kids or simply provide emotional support for them as they crash and burn under the spotlight,” he mused. Either way, it sounds like a win-win for both parties—entertainment for the parents and nightmares for the children!

30 Years Later: High School Reunion Comedy Showdown

As fate would have it, Galati’s high school reunion is synced up with this comedy jaunt, offering him an incredible opportunity to show his former classmates that he’s not just a regular guy working at an advertising firm. No, he also moonlights as a stand-up comic, which he describes as his “side hustle,” though we all know it’s just a fancy term for “I need to pay the bills and lord knows I can’t rely on my day job alone.”

Growing an Online Comedy Empire? Sort of…

In the age of influencers and TikTok stars, Galati’s comedic pursuits have not gone unnoticed by brands looking to hop on the bandwagon. “My audience is growing online,” he notes, as if he’s wrestling a giant internet octopus to create content while dodging brand-sponsored collabs like they’re lasers. “Some brands even reached out for partnerships!” Imagine doing a sketch about dental care while trying not to chip a tooth from all the sponsored content.

Supporting Schools: The Real Comedy of Fundraising

The Governor’s fundraiser promises to benefit the school’s PTA and give a nod to the importance of extracurricular activities—because who doesn’t want their child to join the debate team? So, if you fancy a night of laughter that might also contribute to someone’s ultimate dream of becoming an accomplished magician (or at the very least, not a complete disaster at math), be sure to snag those tickets—just click here, and together we can support future comedians in their quest to turn jokes into a lucrative career or at least a fun hobby.
