Abdul Mu’ti Highlights That WFH Policy is Not a Result of a Crisis

    WFH Policy Encourages Frugal Living

In a recent announcement, the Minister of Basic and Secondary Education, Abdul Mu’ti, clarified that the Work From Home (WFH) policy is not a response to any crisis, but rather an initiative to promote frugal living practices. This approach aims to instill good habits that utilize all available resources effectively.

    Presidential Directives Supporting WFH

Mu’ti mentioned that this policy aligns with the President’s instructions to encourage a lifestyle focused on cost-effectiveness. “This WFH policy aims to cultivate frugal living habits, ensuring that all energy sources are directed towards the most beneficial activities,” he said after participating in the Halal Bihalal Muhammadiyah Pekalongan Regency event.

    No Change for Educational Institutions

Importantly, the WFH policy does not extend to educational institutions. Mu’ti reassured the public that face-to-face learning will continue as normal in schools. “Educational activities will proceed as usual. Teachers and students will still attend school in person,” he confirmed.

Implementation of WFH in Government Offices

The WFH policy will apply specifically to offices such as the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, effective immediately. Mu’ti made it clear that the implementation of WFH comes with specific guidelines and does not compromise work quality.

    Distinguishing WFH from WFA

Mu’ti highlighted the distinction between Work From Home (WFH) and Work From Anywhere (WFA). Employees working from home will maintain their work responsibilities in a structured manner, allowing them to attend meetings swiftly due to their proximity to the office. “WFA gives employees flexibility regarding their location, while WFH focuses on completing duties from home,” he explained.

    Accountability in Remote Work

Despite the flexibility of the WFH policy, Mu’ti emphasized that employees remain accountable for their responsibilities. There are established mechanisms for reporting and delivering work output in line with their original job functions. “Employees will follow up on their tasks and adhere to the Ministry’s objectives during this work-from-home arrangement,” he ensured.

    Translation and Language Considerations

The ministry has also introduced automatic translations of its announcements in several languages including English, Chinese, Japanese, Arabic, and French. However, officials have advised that these translations may have inaccuracies, encouraging users to refer to the original Indonesian text for clarity.
