Ah, June 16, 2021—a date that will live in infamy for some, and for others, a mere Wednesday that just happened to be the day HGTV unleashed its latest masterpiece, Two Steps Home. A budget-friendly treasure trove, the show swiftly became the haven for those seeking ways to renovate their homes without selling a kidney in the process.

Leading this charge against mundane décor are the dynamic duo, Mary and Jon Pierre Tjon-Joe-Pin—a married couple so perfect they make us question our life choices. These two are like the Avengers of home renovations, swooping in with sponges and paint to rescue properties from their drab existences. Seriously, if you want to inject value into a property, just follow them around with a notepad.

Meet the Dream Team: Mary and Jon Pierre Tjon-Joe-Pin

Mary and Jon Pierre didn’t just pop out of nowhere; they’ve been dazzling us since their carefree days hosting Going for Sold. This captivating reality gem offered viewers a backstage pass into their lives, featuring not only their renovation escapades but also the adorable antics of their two kids, Harper and Grayson Skye. Nothing says “we’re relatable” quite like toddlers inspecting drywall.

“Back in the chaotic days of our renovation, we shared our journey on social media,” Jon Pierre reminisced with a sigh that likely had a hint of nostalgia. “Our daughter was two, and trust me, her house inspections were extensive—if only she knew how to design a floor plan.”

How wholesome! The two tied the knot in the spring of 2009 and promptly jumped into the world of home renovations. They launched Harper Raine Homes LLC, named after their first daughter, naturally assuming their life’s purpose was to help people make their homes a little less… well, tragic.

Their Love Story: A Tale Begun on a Birthday

Mary and Jon Pierre’s story began on her 22nd birthday, a night that also involved a large dose of happy birthday cocktails. Surprisingly, amidst the party at Club Vision, they found each other. Who knew that a potential home renovation expert was just a dance move away?

At the time, Jon Pierre was managing a lab—because why not? After toiling away in the oil industry for what seems like an eternity, he turned to real estate, proving that life can indeed swing from refineries to renovations. And yes, he moonlights as a basketball referee, because, apparently, DIY wasn’t chaotic enough.

However, don’t think Mary is lagging behind—she’s a former flight attendant who upgraded from navigating turbulence to navigating contractor disputes. Per KHOU 11, she earned her wings on charter flights before landing on the grand stage of American Airlines. No turbulence is quite as nerve-wracking as choosing the right shade of beige paint.

Catch the dazzling couple on new episodes of Two Steps Home, airing every Wednesday at 9 p.m. EST on HGTV. Make sure you tune in, or you could miss out on genius hacks for turning that sad excuse for a living room into a Pinterest-worthy abode!
