Megan’s viral TikTok has caught the attention of DJs, including David Guetta, who is releasing a remix this Friday.

Let’s play a little game. Complete this sentence: “I’m on the lookout for a man in finance…”

If your brain instantly added “with a trust fund, six-foot-five, and impossibly blue eyes,” welcome to the joyous world of Megan Boni, the viral sensation who has become the meme queen of our times.

“Did I just write the song of the summer?” she posted on TikTok, and with a staggering forty million views later, it’s clear that she did. Her whimsical ditty, a tongue-in-cheek take on the concept of the “ideal man,” has inspired countless remixes and parodies—even catching the attention of Finneas O’Connell, Billie Eilish’s brother, who felt compelled to produce his own melodramatic interpretation of her 19-second masterpiece.

Megan, known as the “Girl on Couch,” is having the time of her life. She’s already made it into the DJ headlines and is now ambitiously planning a single alongside superstar DJ David Guetta. Despite the amusing façade she presents in her TikTok—searching for Mr. Moneybags—Megan confesses to Newsbeat that she isn’t actually chasing after a tall banker with a large wallet. “I doubt we would work,” she quips, rolling her eyes, probably thinking of the eye-watering expectations of dating in the digital age.

The 27-year-old blogger from New York birthed this meme amidst her fatigue with dating apps. Tired of the endless cycle of swiping left and right, she began crafting lyrics as a way to poke fun at unattainable romantic ideals. “Dating apps make dating feel impossible,” Megan states, with just the right amount of sarcasm. “I thought it’d be hilarious to mock girls like me who whine about being single while listing conditions even Zeus would fail to meet.”

Her playful jab at the dating scene hasn’t been without its critics. Some have accused her of objectifying men, but she deftly swats away the complaints. “Oh please, guys write songs about women all the time,” she chuckles, probably envisioning an army of songwriters crafting powerful ballads about her supposed lack of criteria. “It’s all just a joke. I never thought a man like that existed—spoiler alert: he doesn’t.

Despite the unexpected surge into the spotlight, Megan says that music was never her life goal. In fact, she’s received offers for a record deal, including a lucrative one from Universal Music Group, known for its roster of superstars like Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande. However, she’s more interested in pursuing a career in acting and comedy—she has even daydreamed about making it onto Saturday Night Live. Yet here she is, cashing in royalties, though she humorously points out that it’s not quite as profitable as TikTok influencers might suggest. “I’ve made some money, but not from the TikTok uses, which everyone can feature for free,” she explains with a wry smile.

Ultimately, Megan intends to let her hit song have its summer moment. “The sequel is never as good as the original,” she professes philosophically. “I know whatever I produce next won’t match the viral excitement of my two-second TikTok bop, so I’m just going to ride this wave and enjoy the view.” And enjoying the view is an understatement—she recently found herself in Las Vegas performing alongside David Guetta and The Chainsmokers, a curious turn of events for someone who describes herself as “an unserious person.”
