Old Man Volk Makes a Comeback in a Funny New Sketch Where He Gets Teased About Spanish Paella with a Hilarious Twist

“Old Man Volk” Strikes Again: Comedy Gold or Just Old News?

Australia’s beloved geriatric superstar, Alexander Volkanovski, has graced our screens once more with a comedy sketch that’s more satisfying than a perfectly cooked schnitzel. This time, the former UFC featherweight champion dons his “old man” persona for a hearty laugh, just days after his unfortunate punchline—a knockout loss to Ilia Topuria. Because nothing says “comeback” quite like playing a grandparent in a sketch!

In a delightful twist, Volkanovski sauntered onto the UFC 298 press conference stage dressed like an extra from a retirement home open house—complete with a cane! MMA fans collectively gasped: “Is this part of the costume or did he hit it too hard?” That was short-lived, as he soon found himself tasting the canvas during his recent featherweight title defense. But don’t worry, his comedic timing is still sharp, unlike his jaw was that night.

    Comedy Sketch or Fighting Follies?

Staying true to his comedy roots while juggling the crushing weight of disappointment, Volkanovski resurrected his old man shtick in collaboration with the Australian betting group, SportsBet. This latest sketch is so well-crafted it’s almost like the light of his lost title reign is being dimmed by applause.

In the sketch, ‘Old Man Volk’ unfurls a newspaper suggesting he’s past his prime—clearly, the only thing missing is a visitor from the “I’m Not Dead Yet” club. Gone are the gloves, and in their place? A homemade pasta sauce business! Because when life gives you lemons (or brutal knockouts), you may as well make marinara.

When a customer inquires about paying with a card, our geriatric hero replies with comedic flair, “Tap and go, tap?! You know I never tap!” Who knew living in the past could be this funny? Enter Beverly, the all-too-familiar Spanish Paella vendor, who, thank the heavens, has decided to taunt Volkanovski with her culinary “knockout punch.” A perfect way to remind him of his last bout—just when you thought it couldn’t get any worse!

Volkanovski’s Future: Title Dreams or Pasta Schemes?

Meanwhile, in the not-so-distant future of October 26, Volkanovski sits on the edge of his seat while Topuria and Holloway face off for the featherweight title at UFC 308. As always, he’s publicly committed to waiting for a title match rather than taking any unnecessary detours involving torn ligaments or questionable decisions like facing the likes of Diego Lopes. No one wants to break a hip before their next title match!

Yet Lopes, fresh off his victory over Brian Ortega, is practically ready to buy Volkanovski dinner to lure him into a quick fight. Our old hero, however, stands firm. “I’m not afraid of anyone,” he declares to Submission Radio, perhaps while knitting a cozy sweater, “but I’m only getting into the ring for my belt, not for some pasta sauce showdown.”

Ultimately, it’s a waiting game, and if there’s one thing Old Man Volk knows by now, it’s patience—after all, good things come to those who wait. While we await his next bout, he’ll surely continue to serve up old school charm and homemade sauce, reminding us all that life is better with a sprinkle of irony and a side of laughs.
